The Ghana Boxing Authority(GBA) has congratulated boxer Sherif Quaye for his WBO Africa Lightweight triumph over Tanzanian Emmanuel Amos in Accra on Friday night.
Quaye defeated the Tanzanian via a third round technical knockout at the Royal Dede Golden Beach Resort and Hotel in Korle Gonno, Accra to annex his first international title.
In a statement released by the boxing governing body on Saturday and signed by Communications Director Mohammed Amin Lamptey, the GBA on behalf of the entire nation congratulated the latest champion.
“On behalf of our nation Ghana and the entire stakeholders in boxing, Ghana Boxing Authority(GBA) wishes to transmit a congratulatory message to you [Sherif Quaye] on your well-deserved victory over Emmanuel Amos for the WBO Africa Lightweight title which took place at the Golden Beach Resort,Korle Gonno, Accra,” the statement read.
“Ghana has a new WBO Africa Lightweight champion in Sherif Quaye(21-3-1-13kos).He stopped his opponent from Tanzania, Emmanuel Amos in round three(3) of their championship bout.
“Your performance was remarkable and aesthetically pleasing to watch. You have yet again demonstrated that you are capable of winning more laurels including a world title when offered the opportunity.
“May this special victory brings back your original predatory character in the ring and inspire our young boxers to emulate and benefit from your exploits in the ring.
