Ghana’s International Boxing Organisation (IBO) lightweight champion, Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’ Tagoe has expressed his dissatisfaction over lack of support from Ghanaians and appealed to the boxing fraternity to offer him some good wishes as he tried to defend his belt.
Speaking at the Office of the Accra Mayor, the Game Boy who will be making his first defense of his IBO title against Argentina’s Fernando David Saucedo on January 27th at the Bukom Boxing Arena said he is not happy.
According to the James Town native, Ghanaians are only supporting Isaac Dogboe and Richard Commey and have neglected him. He even contemplated whether to stop boxing or continue, because he seems to have lost most of his fans.
Tagoe made this known when he visited the Accra Mayor, Mohammed Adjei Sowah ahead of his upcoming fight.
He however noted that with the support of the Mayor he will be victorious and claim other titles.
Hon. Adjei Sowah said unearthing and developing talents had been his passion and future stars must be supported and groomed to perform their best for the country.
He also noted that it would help identify young stars for the promotion and growth of boxing and provide the platform for them to access their strengths and skills among their colleagues.
Mr Anim Addo, CEO of Baby Jet Promotions, Mr Asamoah Gyan (Owner of Baby Jet romotions) had done a lot for Accra, and that “it was time for Accra to reciprocate the gesture, hence the call on the AMA for support”.
He acknowledged the Mayor for his continuous support and the inspiration he gave to Emmanuel Tagoe to fully develop his talent.
