General Okunka who last fought in April last year against China’s Baishanbo Nasiyiwula (15-2-1, 6KO) in the Inaugural WBC and Evander Holyfield’s tournament says 2019 is going to be a busy year for him. In an interview with boxingGhana.com, Fredrick Lawson says ” 2018 was not too bad a year in my career, it was actually a turning point after a long break in 2015 when I fought Kevin Bizier in an IBF Welterweight eliminator”.
“I expected to lift the Inaugural WBC and Evander Holyfield’s tournament but unfortunately the semi final fight with Chris Van Heerden which was supposed to have come off last year in Canada foiled because of visa problems”.
Lawson reiterated that they have a lot coming their way this year and therefore have moved from his base in New York to Massachusetts and working at the ” Camp Get Right Boxing Gym” which is managed by Oko Odamten, the former coach of Ike “Bazooka” Quartey under the supervision of Coach Kwame Asante and expecting Coach Carl Lokko to join him anytime soon in Massachusetts.
Lawson is eyeing to come back in the top 15 ranking in the WBC welterweight division and get a world title shot.
