FREDERICK LAWSON HITS THE RING ON A TOP RANK CARD.

Currently ranked 18th by the
WBC welterweight division, the US based Ghanaian boxer Frederick Okunka Lawson who had been inactive in the last 10 months will return to the ring on March 30, 2019 on a Bob Arum TOP RANK card at the 2300 Arena, Philadelphia.

The swift hard hitting puncher Lawson 29, (27-1, 21KO) has been inactive in the last ten months when the inaugural WBC and Evander Holyfield semi-final in Canada foiled. Lawson has been in the gym preparing to stage a spectacular return in his quest to annex a word title.

Lawson in an interview with BoxingGhana.com said that 2018 was a difficult year after the semi-finals of the tourney failed to hold in Canada. This obviously affected the Ghanaian boxer but did not break him down as he immediately hit the gym in preparation to get to the top of the ranking.

The management of Lawson led by the experienced boxing manager Jacob Zwennes who is also based in US, keep working round the clock to get his boxer back again in the elite ranks.

Lawson have had three straight winning streak after losing to Kevin Bizier in an IBF welterweight title eliminator. Lawson came back with a unanimous decision win at the Bukom Boxing Arena and took the WBC Silver title against Sakima Mullings in March 2017. Later in November 2017 he crashed Fidel Monterrosa Munoz in round 3 of a 8 round contest.

“The General” Lawson later vacated the WBC Silver title for the WBC and Evander Holyfield inaugural tournament. Lawson handed a unanimous decision victory against Baishanbo Nayisiwula to advance to the semi-finals.

“Like we spoke the last time, we have a lot coming from my team, in fact this year will be a very busy year. I have been training for quiet sometime now and only waiting for the fight date to deliver the goods”.

“So far so good we’ve gradually going under process in training and I promise you we will come out victorious” Lawson added.
