The former IBF world champion Richard Oblitey Commey has shown class as always after he congratulated the latest Undisputed Lightweight Champion Teofimo Lopez on Sunday via his twitter handle.

Lopez after a shaky win against Masayoshi Nakatani last year silenced his critics after a surprise TKO win to claim the IBF strap which earned him the fight with the highly rated pound for pound Ukrainian pugilist Vasyl Lomachenko.

En route to this fight, many had hoped to watch a fight between Richard Commey and Lomachenko who are arguably the two most feared lightweight boxers in the division. For Lopez to win against these two boxers, a tough opponent in Richard Commey and the unified champion Lomachenko at the age of 23, the credit that is due him must be given.

It is therefore commendable for the former world champion Richard Commey to have sent him a congratulatory message.

“Congratulations to @TeofimoLopez by becoming the undisputed lightweight champion of the world. He did it the correct way and the hard way, beating me a champion and then @VasylLomachenko a unified champion, no one can take that achievement away from him and at just 23 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿” – Richard Commey on twitter.

This class act did not go unnoticed from his manager Michael Amoo-Bediako Snr who responded,

“As always @RichardCommey shows his class in congratulating @TeofimoLopez on his victory at the weekend. And agreed he is a true champion, by beating two champions to achieve his goal no on can question his credibility. Congrats Teo!!!!”

The soon to be 2x world champion has begun preparations towards coming back to claim the world strap very soon and we can’t wait to hear of his next fight.
