The ring is ready and fans awaits the night of the fresh exploits of Emmanuel Tagoe as he faces Vyacheslav Gusev. The fight which happens to be Tagoe’s last fight under the Asamoah Gyan card and at the Bukom Boxing Arena before leaving for the Luo Dibella promotional deal in the united states is a fight of interest for many boxing fans to throng the arena. Really the stakes are very much high.

TALE OF THE TAPE
Gusev 33, mounts the ring with a checkered experience in the last two years but over all a satisfactory record of 233 rounds of boxing and 30 fights. Gusev has won 25, no draw, 5 losses and 8 by way of KO (27%).

The hard puncher has height and reach disadvantage of 5’4″ and 5’5″ respectively. Gusev has a solid body condition, good combination of right and left hooks and body shots. He rarely goes for the jabs, loves center ring fight and will look to clinching to slow the tempo of the fight.

The Russian has weak defence and quickly backtracks to take respite and ward off punches.

Emmanuel Tagoes 30, comes into the fight as favourite with quite an impressive record of 217 rounds of boxing, 29 wins, 1 loss, no draw and 14 by way of KO (47%). He has a reach and height advantage of 5’8″ and 5’7″ respectively.

Tagoe will certainly bring to the ring his spectacular combination of the left jabs and robust over hand hooks, the left right combinations as well and relatively good defence.
Tagoe has weak right jab and lacks power in his punches.

Emmanuel Tagoe will come aggressively with his left jabs and wittingly the solid over hand hooks to destabilize Gusev. Tagoe will have to sustain the aggression and look to avoiding Gusev hard punches with his jabs not lazy jabs but crashing and straight right punches.

Gusev, very ubiquitous with energy will be a hard nut to crack by Tagoe and must be put on the check at all times with the jabs to avoid the unsuspecting hard punches from Gusev. This encounter is a difficult and solid test for both boxers as they battle for the IBF international and WBO lightweight titles.

I call the fight for Tagoe on a majority point decision barring any surprises on the night of 23rd February at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
