Faisal Abubakari set for March 7 but hints of becoming a national champion
Crowd’s favourite and national super lightweight title prospect Faisal Abubakari is ready for March 7 Boxoffice promotions fight night. Abubakari 27, (4-0, 4KOs) 6ft tall, ranked seventh (7th) in the Ghanaian super lightweight division and tutored by Lawrence Carl Lokko, one of Ghana’s finest trainers is ready to face a yet to be announced opponent. “I’m ready any day any time, we are always in the gym training. There’s no holiday for me” Abubakari said.
Abubakari has been very clinical and tactically swift in the ring for all his outings and very disciplined on and off the ring. It comes at no surprise at all why he has such a large following. With his height most Ghanaian boxing pundits believes he is going to be a very tough customer for most boxers. ” He is a big super lightweight, tough boxer and ready at all time..and I’m ready to push him to the top” Carl Lokko told Boxingghana.com when we caught up with him in the Bronx Boxing Gym.
Faisal Abubakari aka “poncho power” believes he has had very long time in the gym preparing to become national champion and African champion in record time. ” I will be become a national champion this year” Abubakari said responding to how well he is prepared to become a national champion? ” I’m prepared to fight anybody in my division [as far as you are in my division]” he quickly expressed with optimism.

Abubakari fought Nii Akrofi on January 31 and dispatched him with a heavy left jab followed with a right hook in the second round. He is ready to fight on March 7 on undercard of Ansah vs Quaye III against a yet tut o known opponent.
