The New WBO Youth Junior Lightweight and WBC Youth Silver Super Feather champion Alfred Kotei and his team eyes the National (Ghana) title in their next move.
Alfred ‘Bukom Bomber’ Lamptey is a young Ghanaian boxer who promised to deliver to the new GBA president Mr. Abraham Kotei Neequaye and his team a title on the 4th of September 2021 at the Bukom Boxing Arena against Iddi Kayumba of Tanzania.
Alfred the young and ferocious boxer during their press briefing promised a knockout which he fulfilled on the night of the bout.
With his skills and determination winning him more accolades, the current Communications officer to the Ghana Boxing Authority, Mr. Amin Lamptey described his delight about the bout in a rather justifiable way saying, “For the first time I saw a young boxer oozing with confidence and passion to triumph.
“He was very determined, discipline and effective throughout the ten scheduled rounds. He exhibited so much energy, power, creativity, endurance and was tactically good.
He actually fought against an experienced and quality opponent who gave him the needed test meant for potential world beater.
Kayumba the Tanzanian gave Lamptey run for his money and brought out the best in him. Lamptey survived the onslaught of Kayumba due to his conditioning, reflexes, good defense, ring generalship and consistent body shots.
Alfred Lamptey has written his name in the books of Ghanaian boxers penciled down as world beaters from now on.”
An interview with Coach Emmanuel Adjei revealed the team were going to sit and plan for the future, so BoxinGhana.com got some few words from the Champ. Alfred Lamptey who made Ghana and his management proud explained, “I am no one without my coach, management and supporters. I promised to win the title for all of us and I have done that. I cannot make a decision for myself concerning my future because I have a coach and management who handle all that.
My coach can see my fitness level and decide where we have to go, and I trust him very much. As my coach, ‘Coach Killer’ has said our next target is a national title and the training continues. As a boxer I must keep training like I have a fight tomorrow and that is what my coach has taught me.
I am very grateful to all the people who believed in me and supported us to win this victory. We will win something very big for Ghana very soon so keep supporting and praying for me and my camp.”
As many other boxing writers have reiterated, Alfred might need more conditioning to face the world; his management, coach and supporters see a cooked boxer who is ready to take on the world.
