Exclusive: Richard Lartey versus Otto Wallin fight is unconfirmed and untrue
Boxing Ghana can confidently confirm that the purported fight between former WBO Africa Heavyweight Champion Richard Lartey and Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin as reported by some sections of the media and Boxrec is absolutely untrue.
The Lartey-Wallin card allegedly scheduled to happen on Friday, July 26 at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino is factually inaccurate, according to the camp of Richard Lartey since the purse bid is yet to be finalized.
The Ghanaian and his team have no knowledge of either the news or artworks in circulation.
In as much as the camp of Richard Lartey and indeed the boxer himself admit to an approach by the camp of Wallin for a possible showdown in July, the initial purse bid worth 18,000 dollars was outrightly rejected hence it’s unclear how the fight got registered on boxrec and the artworks already in circulation without the boxer’s knowledge nor consent.
This unprofessional conduct could cause Lartey, who has more than three possible suitors in negotiations.
The eight-round top-of-the-bill attraction as purported was to be part of a Boxing Insider Promotions show, but even the matchmaker denies knowledge of the news.
“Lartey has other suitors with much better offers and got to know the news through one of them of his so-called purported fight with Wallin.” A source told Boxing Ghana’s Sammy Ofosuhene.
This is a developing story. Hence, watch this space for more updates.
