It’s been over a year, approximately 12 months and 4 days since Ghanaian lightweight prospect Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’ Tagoe last had a fight.
Many boxing fans from his motherland Ghana has been asking lots of questions about the absence of their world title hopeful Tagoe after he decisioned American Mason Menard in a 10 round lightweight contest from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, Florida, USA last year on the 27th November.
Tagoe’s inactivity has been a concern to many. We (Boxing Ghana) therefore made contact with his co-manager Peter Kahn, whose current protege George Kambosos Jr is now a world champion after he defeated Teofimo Lopez last month to become the new ‘undisputed’ lightweight champion of the world.
This is what ensued in our chat with boxing guru and manager of self styled ‘Gameboy’ Peter Kahn.
Que: It’s been over a year since Emmanuel Tagoe fought, what’s the latest on our prospect?
Peter Kahn [PK]: He is currently in NYC with me and we’re having meetings regarding his next fight
Que: What has resulted in Tagoe’s inactivity for all these while?
PK: Many fighters in the top 15 world ratings haven’t wanted to fight him
Que: How fit is Tagoe as he’s inactive for a while now?
PK: He has been in training camp in Florida with his team. He is in great shape
Que: You now have a world champion in your camp in same division as Tagoe, what’s the plan ahead?
PK: Everything is still fresh. Tagoe is also very happy for his stablemate George Kambosos Jr
Que: Looking at Tagoe, when do you think he can win his next world title?
PK: I believe Tagoe needs to fight another top lightweight that would show the world he is ready to compete for a world title.
With Peter Kahn meeting up with the Game Boy Tagoe, we’re hoping to recieve a favourable news pretty soon.
