In an exclusive letter intercepted by your most authoritative portal, the content reads;
“Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) hereby formally withdraw your license and suspend you indefinitely as a boxing manager and promoter under the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) with effect from Monday 17 January, 2022.
In accordance with article 21 Clause (b) of the Rules and Regulations governing the professional boxing in Ghana which states;
All licensee are required to adhere strictly to the provisions enshrined in this ethical code of conduct and the rules and regulations that follow the breach of which shall attract any of the following according to the severity of the offence.” The letter stated.
The letter further went ahead to state categorically the events that has led to this situation.
“Your suspension follows an act of disrespect and misconduct by you and your boxer Richard Commey in recent times towards the Ghana Boxing Authority in view of issues which you were cordially invited to come into terms of agreement with the GBA.
In Article 18 under sanctions of the Rules and Regulations governing professional boxing locally and internationally which states; Boxers licensed by the Ghana Boxing Authority and fighting outside the country whether under the flag of Ghana or not are expected to remit a percentage sum of their purse to the Authority, such percentage amount will be determined from time to time by the Ghana Boxing Authority.”
“With effect from 1st January 1996 the payment of a percentage by boxers engaged in local tournament shall commence, such percentage to be determined from time to time by the Authority.” The content ended.
What is clear is that, the GBA is still waiting for it’s percentage of money from Richard Commey’s last fight against former world champion Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko which the Ghanaian lost in December of last year 2021.
