It has been the dream of every sports person to win laurels at a point in time and to be remembered as one of the sporting greats. Talk of Prof. Azumah Nelson, D.K Poison, Ike ‘Bazuka’ Quartey, Joshua Quartey among others.

In an exclusive interview with Musah Lawson, he explained his eagerness to show the world what he is made of and his readiness to stamp his name in the books of records.

“I fell in love with boxing at an early age and all I see was having one of those big belts around my waist. I have no idea what it takes to own one but I am sure one day I will get it. I have been through the ranks as I was with the Ghana amateur team for more than 8 years” said Musah Lawson.

Many have wondered why Ghana with a lot of quality boxers still find it difficult to get international title matches and why they do not see much of Ghana Boxers in the ring.

Lawson added, “It takes a lot to be flagged for a title bout, sometimes not because you are not qualified or next in line but because the title holder is afraid to get into the ring with you.”

“I will be competing for the National Super Welterweight title, and it makes me smile anytime I think about the feeling. I have been training day in day out for this opportunity and finally it has come. Sometimes I wish the fight was tomorrow as I have over trained and more than ready.

I know I will be fighting an Ivorian in the coming months for the national Super Welterweight title, and I am not interested in who he is but as time goes, I will be told.

I have had the exposure, I have fought and overcome situations that placed me on a path where nothing scares me anymore. I am not a walk over and my opponent sure is not someone I will want to waste time with him in the ring. At the level I have reached now, he does not meet the fight criteria, I will show whoever gets in the ring with me for the national title how to fight.

I have heard my soon to be announced opponent has started with the usual bragging and it is what brings me into full force. I have been training for the title and for my opponent. I will surely make an announcement in the ring after this title fight.

Although I am not downplaying the strengths of other boxers, I can assure you that this 12round bout will not travel the entire length. I will have my guard up at all times and I will ensure our neighbors start to respect Ghana boxing again.

I have watch Prof. Azumah Nelson for years and I have taken heed of his words that say ‘I will go into the ring with my own referee and judge, a knock out’.

I will entreat all boxing lovers and fans to take note of the upcoming bout as I will steadily update you with all necessary information and also they should be early on my fight night as they might come to meet an empty stadium since I am going for the kill”

As much as the I tried to get the full details of the opponent of Musah Lawson, all he disclosed during the exclusive interview was Charles from Cote devoir.

BoxinGhana.com is keeping a close watch on events and will surely bring you up to date info on the bout.
