Mr. Gideon Happy Kwamla Oyiadzo who is also know as “Jingles” was actually not ‘happy’ when he came across our story. He therefore had this chat with Mr. Sammy Ofosuhene, Managing Chief Editor of boxinghana.com to express his displeasure for being tagged as an “Errand Boy” by the GBA Boss.

This is what transpired in the convo

Que: Do you feel scandalized by the GBA President’s “Errand Boy” comments?

Ans: Sure I do. That is no way to describe key officers like myself who work in the interest of promoting boxing in Ghana.

Besides he must know better as the GBA President that a promoter has officers who play fiduciary roles for project success.

Ques: He says the promoters Association of Ghana is an illegality.

How was the body formed ?

Ans: I wish I knew his reasons for this claim. However let me state that the Boxing Promoters Association of Ghana was reconstituted and not newly formed.

Ques: How many promotional outfits were present when it was reconstituted…..Do you think it was a fair representation?

Ans: I wasn’t an active part of those that worked on inviting the various promotional outfits, however, I think the active promoters who had promotions in the past year attended the meeting.

The platform was meant to help solicit for concerns and challenges confronting promoters in order to collectively work closely with the GBA to find solutions to advance the work of promoters.

Ques: Well, I put it to you that out of the 16 promotional outfits only three (3) were invited ? So was that a fair representation?

Ans: That is what the GBA President is saying but for the details we will let him know when we (the association) officially gets his recognition and the opportunity to dialogue.

Que: Are you aware that the CEO of Cabic Promotions was at the promoters meeting called by the GBA? Can you and Mr. Ivan Cudjoe hold two roles with one license… Who takes the decision in your office?

Ans: I have checked with him. He was not at the said meeting. I have further examined the official meeting photos and he was not there. However, according to him, he passed by later to have a word with Mr Kotei Neequaye on some personal issues that I cannot state here.

Now are you suggesting that Mr. Ivan Bruce Cudjoe is not aware of my role as Organizer of the BPA?

Ques: He is on record to have signed the attendance sheet….Are you suggesting it’s forgery ?

Ans: But I can tell you he wasn’t at the said meeting. He went there later per my discussions with him.

Que: Did you in your presser with Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye cast aspersions on the GBA President ?

Ans: Now what have you heard please

SO: I’m just a journalist asking questions for a rejoinder

Ans: Then not as I remember. As the Organizer of the BPA, I read a communicae from the Association and explained further where necessary. It was nothing personal and truth be told I have nothing personal against Mr. Abraham Kotei Neequaye.

I have only joined in advocating for the right things to be done in order to empower all stakeholders in the development of boxing in Ghana and not a selected few

Que: How do you feel when the GBA President says he does not recognize you as the organizer of the Boxing Promoters Association of Ghana?

Ans: I am not so much for the position but rather what I can do in my small corner to make boxing great. The truth is there is so much that the GBA President is doing contrary to what the GBA Constitution stipulates so I am not surprised. But let me state that the BPA cannot be subjected to the control of Mr. Abraham Kotei Neequaye.

Que: And finally what do you think is the way forward to solve this ampasse

Ans: Thank you for the opportunity. Its all about dialogue and respect for the provisions of the GBA Constitution. I believe that if Mr. Abraham Kotei Neequaye can let go of his new found passion to discredit most of the active promoters he met upon his assumption to office as the GBA President, he will allow for dialogue amongst stakeholders which will eventually help to resolve  the issues. I believe feedback and not the politics he is fond of engaging in will rather do him a lot of good by helping to shape his policies and programs as the GBA President for the benefit of the Boxing fraternity in Ghana and beyond.

Que: Interesting, Can you provide me with the GBA constitution. Who signed and when?

Ans: The GBA President came into office by the same constitution he is refusing to sign simply because he is not comfortable with some provisions of the constitution and will want changes. For example he is currently running the day to day administration of the GBA against what the constitution allows so why will he sign? The GBA cannot be reduced to what the President wants especially if that goes against the collective interest of stakeholders as envisaged by the constitution.

Que: So the GBA constitution is still a bill not passed?

Ans: The GBA constution is duely passed. What I know is it was used to legitimately elect Abraham Kotei Neequaye as GBA President and since then he has refused to work with it claiming it is not signed. Now he is the one who is supposed to sign it and if he has refused to do so, does that invalidate the constitution? And even if it does, is it not intentional?

From the convo above, one can easily see some inconsistencies with regards to those who were present at the Promoters meeting.

Clearly, things don’t look right, but keep watching this space as we continue to dig up on this matter.
