ETHIOPIA MOVES UP TO 4TH SPOT AS KENYA STILL RULES AFRICA

Ā ā–ŖļøNigeria, Swaziland, Tanzania, Senegal, Ghana, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, Zimbabwe among African countries staring gloom without a medal so far

 

Tamirat Tola’s (pictured) marathon gold has moved up Ethiopia to the fourth spot among the 11 African countries on the Paris Olympics medals table.

 

The Ethiopians now have one gold and two silver at number 44 overall and fourth in Africa.

 

Kenya still rules Africa, firmly at the top with two gold, one silver and four bronzes followed by Algeria (34) with two gold, third-placed South Africa (40) have one gold, two silver and two bronze.

 

Tunisia (47) is fifth with one gold and the same number of silver and bronze. Uganda (50) has dropped to the sixth place with a gold and silver and on seventh position is Morocco (57) having one gold and a bronze while Botswana (59) are eighth with one gold.

 

Zambia, Cape Verde and Egypt are ninth each with a bronze among the seven countries placed 80th overall.
