Emmanuel Tagoe to land an eliminator or title fight this year.
Ghana’s Emmanuel Tagoe nicknamed Gameboy left the shores of Ghana September last year to America in his pursuit in annexing another world title. The very witty, crafty and tough talking Ghanaian boxer has been busy on his arrival in the USA visiting top gyms, taking sparring to test some boxers in his division and to acclimatise with his new home.
Tagoe 31, (31-1, 15KOs) has been an amazing boxer, very controversial, knows his stuff and when to stir controversy. The former IBO lightweight champion, currently IBF International and WBO Global champion have had a very distinctive record of 31-fight winning streak after losing his pro debut. He had big wins over former world titlists Mzonke Fana and Paulus Moses for the IBO lightweight title and the WBO Global respectively scoring a lopsided 12-round win over veteran contender Vyacheslav Gusev last February at the Bukom Boxing Arena to the admiration of his Co-manager Peter Kahn, who was recently nominated for the manager of the year award by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) to put him in favorable position for a potential title shot or eliminator in 2020.
Tagoe is currently ranked number two, six and nine by the WBO, IBF and WBC respectively and very likely to take on Lee Selby, the British pugilist who is ranked number one in an eliminator for the WBO strap which is held by Vasily Lomachenko.
