EMMANUEL TAGOE EARNS MANDAYORY POSITION TO THE WBO LIGHTWEIGHT TITTLE.
Former IBO lightweight champion Emmanuel “Game Boy” Tagoe is now ranked number 1 by the WBO in it’s latest ranking for the month of May.
The WBO Africa and Global champion handed a unanimous decision in February at the Bukom Boxing Arena to the hard hitting Russian boxer Vyacheslav Gusev to conquer the WBO Global lightweight title.
Tagoe 30, (30-1, 14 KOs) after the fight with Gusev called out the WBO and WBA lightweight champion Vasily Lomachenko for a fight and then move on to unify the titles with fellow countryman Richard Commey who is the IBF lightweight King for unification. Not too surprising, Tagoe now earns the mandatory spot in the WBO lightweight ranking to make a date with Lomachenko.
Team Tagoe is very optimistic of their chances annexing the world strap as they look to hitting the ring this July. Tagoe’s next fight, which may come off in July, will certainly not be in Accra, but either in Kumasi or probably outside Ghana.
