Ghana’s Emmnauel Tagoe (30-1, 14KOs) secured the right to possess both the WBO Global and the IBF International after successfully defending his WBO Africa lightweight belt against Russia’s Vyacheslav Gusev ( 25-6,8 KOs) at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra- Ghana Sunday morning.

The self styled ‘Game Boy’ dominated and commanded the lions share of the twelve rounder with some superb overheads and razor sharp jabs which kept the Russian at bay.

Though the resilient Russian never gave up in his quest to stake a claim as he consistently kept coming forward with his unmeasured combinations of straight hooks.

The scorecard read 120-107,118 -109, 119-109 in favour of the new WBO Global and the IBF International lightweight champion Emmanuel Tagoe.

In his post fight interview with BoxingGhana, Emmanuel Tagoe thanked the crowd, his handlers as well as the stakeholders.

“I thank every body that supported me through my journey especially my handlers most especially Baffour and Asamoah Gyan. I am grateful for the love shown . I want to say that now i am ready for Lomachenko. I know i can stop him and I want that fight as soon as now.” Tagoe told BoxingGhana’s Samuel Ofosuhene.

The current WBO Africa lightweight champion is set to move to the states after signing a promotional and co management deal with DiBella Entertainment and Peter Kahn respectively.
