The WBO World Featherweight King, Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete is set for a showdown tonight against Australian fighter Liam Wilson (11-1,7KOs) for the vacant WBO World Super Featherweight title.

The Top Rank-ESPN main event is set to be staged from the Desert Diamond Arena, Glendale, Arizona, USA, as Emanuel Navarrete (36-1, 30KOs) seeks to become a three-weight world champion against Australian upstart Liam Wilson (11-1, 7KOs).

Navarrete, despite fighting at 130lbs tonight, he still holds the WBO Featherweight (126lbs) strap waiting for an opportunity to unify the featherweight straps before finally vacating the featherweight division.

It’s been a wonderful career for the Mexican who lost his sixth pro fight way back in 2012 (only defeat), winning a world title in the super bantamweight and featherweight divisions.

Becoming a three-division world champion is a special feat he’ll like to achieve tonight

“For me and my team, being a three-division world champion will be the culmination of yet another goal in my career. We know that it won’t be easy. But, by doing that, I’ll feel that I have done something good in my career, and I’ll be satisfied with what I have achieved in my 10 years as a professional boxer.”

The two-division champion commended his team for how far he’s come in his career and development

“My team and my corner have been fundamental to my development. They are people who are very humble. My family is very humble and reserved. More than being humble, it’s a way of life. I appreciate that part of me, and I always try to be a better person.”

Concluding, Navarrete reiterated how ready he is for Wilson “Liam Wilson comes with a strong desire to win the world title. And that’s why I’ve been focused on him 100 percent.”

Navarrete’s dream challenger come fight night, Liam Wilson, who looks like the underdog won’t be a walkover as he holds the WBO International Super Featherweight title after having decisioned the experienced Argentine Matias Carlos Adrian Rueda (37-2, 32KOs) in June last year.

Liam Wilson won’t take the fight lightly as its his first world title shot, and is therefore poised to grab the opportunity with all his might.

“This is a chance to fulfill my dream and become a world champion. I’ve done 17 years of hard work for this moment. I’ve put in a lot of hard work. I’ve fought whoever they’ve put in front of me. I’m ready for Friday night.”

He continued, “I’ve taken one hard fight after another. Against Matias Rueda, I fought with one hand. I broke my hand midway through the fight. But I showed my resilience. The fight proved to myself, my country and the world that I have what it takes to become world champion and that I have to be in those fights.”

The dream to become a three-weight world champion versus the hunger and thirst to win a world title for the first time awaits for us all tonight!
