EL-GUINDI WON EGYPT’S FIRST OLYMPIC BOXING MEDAL IN ROME 1960

Egypt’s first ever Olympic Games boxing medal came via flyweight Abdel Moneim El-Guindi (pictured second from left) at the 1960 Rome Olympics.

El Guindi defeated Humberto Barrera of United States 4-1 in the quarter finals, before losing the semi-final with the same score to eventual old medallist Gyula Török of Hungary.
