The undefeated light heavyweight Ghana born Brit Joshua Buatsi has been offered to face the World Boxing Association (WBA) Light heavy champion Dmitry Bivol by his promoter Eddie Hearn.
Joshua Buatsi, after having schooled the current WBA International light heavy titlist Craig Richards few weeks ago made known his readiness to face the champion, Dmitry Bivol.
The Matchroom boss, Eddie Hearn in an interview stated that
“We want Buatsi to fight Bivol. We’ve made an offer now to Buatsi to fight Bivol, which we want to make sure he’s happy with and hopefully we can make that fight.
“It’s not done yet, it’s not signed, but we’re seeing if we can make the numbers work.” said Eddie Hearn
Dmitry Bivol defied all odds to hand the experienced Canelo Alvarez his second pro defeat via a unanimous decision two months ago to successfully defend his WBA light heavyweight title for the eighth time after winning it in November 2017.
With Dmitry Bivol opting to face Gennadiy Golovkin for the third time, he’s still without an opponent, hence, could face Buatsi who’s the number two contender with the WBA.
This matchup will definitely be a hard nut to crack for Joshua Buatsi who has an incredible knockout ratio of 81.25% compared to Bivol’s 55%.
Time will surely tell how things will unfold for these two undefeated pugilists.
