Known in the pugilist circles as the ‘Chosen One’ from a Ghanaian decent, Netherlands based Stephen Danyo (16-3-3,6KOs) decisioned his nemesis Alexander Benidze (13-26-3, 6 KOs) yesterday, Friday 7th, June 2019 over 8 rounds at the De Doelen, Rotterdam, Netherlands in a super welterweight contest.

The Dutch-Ghanaian was making a return after his split decision defeat to Italian Orlando Fiordigiglio (32-2,13 KOs) for the then vacant International Boxing Federation International Super Welterweight Title in April of this year, at Tuscany Hall, Florence, in Italy, for a bout that was co-promoted by OPI Since 82 – Salvatore Cherchi and Matchroom Boxing headed by Eddie Hearn.

Referee Robert Verwijs saw an eight rounder contest in the city of Rotterdam, to which the Dutch-Ghanaian dominated proceedings and was not much a surprise when the three judges ruled in his favour for outpointing his opponent on the day.

Stephen Danyo is a former World Boxing Organisation European Welterweight champion, and at age 30, has chalked 22 professional bouts in a 125 rounds of boxing with KO ratio of 27%.

Stephen’s promising career nearly took a nose dive when he suffered a back to back defeats to Custio Clayton and Felix Cash via unanimous points decisions when he attempted the vacant International Boxing Federation Inter-Continental Welterweight Title, World Boxing Organisation International Welterweight Title and vacant World Boxing Council International Silver Middleweight Titles in 2018.

But the self styled ‘Chosen One’ is now back with a convincing victory against an equally experienced Alexander Benidze who has been in the game since 23rd July, 2006 when he made his debut.
