I Don’t Support Dogboe, Tagoe Fight – Joshua Clottey

Former world champion, Joshua Clottey, says he will not support calls that Emmanuel Tagoe should fight Isaac Dogboe.

The two camps agreed for a fight in July on Tuesday morning after Dogboe’s camp accepted Team Tagoe’s challenge.

“It is not good at all for the two boxers to fight, Emmanuel Tagoe used to be super featherweight and he was struggling in making the weight and he moved up to lightweight, i’m not sure at the lightweight he makes below or not,” he said.

“Why is Emmanuel Tagoe coming down to super featherweight to fight Isaac Dogboe?, does that make sense?. who and who agreed to that fight, even that the two boxers are on their lane, Dogboe is going to fight for the World title very soon and Tagoe holds the IBO lightweight belt, so why are they going to fight. What kind of life is that.”

Clottey added that the two boxers should be thinking of fighting outside the shores of Ghana.

“With their proposed fight are we  going to make Ghana boxing better or like fighting here is our main priority, fighting here is nothing trust me….fighting here is nothing. It will give them nothing trust me.”

“Making this bout doesn’t make sense, because Dogboe is super bantamweight and Tagoe is lighweight, why are they creating enemies among themselves when we need a World title. How on earth Tagoe should fight Dogboe is it about jealousy or what?, some of the talks are stupid and silly sometimes i don’t even understand.”

“Dogboe will be fight for the WBO World title somewhere in April we need to push him to win the title, Tagoe holds the IBO lightweight belt we need to push him to fight for another title. So this nonsense must stop,” he concluded.

Three weeks ago, Dogboe stopped WBO #1 Cesar Juarez in round 5 to win the interim WBO World super bantamweight while Tagoe, last Saturday successfully defended his IBO lightweight belt by stopping 36 year-old Fernando Saucedo in round 10.
