Isaac Dogboe’s co-promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank is ready to promote the unification fight between the former and WBA World super bantamweight champion Danny Roman.
According to Arum, the super bantamweight division is very interesting and the unification fight between Dogboe and Roman must happen later this year.
“I think that’s a great unification fight,” Arum said. “The 122-pound division is very interesting.”.
The yet to be confirmed unification fight between Dogboe and Roman came to light after the latter declared that he is ready to unify the division. He mentioned Dogboe as one of the world champions he want to unify with.
“I think a unification fight is in everyone’s best interest,” Roman said after defending his belt last Saturday against Moises Flores. “I’ll face any of the other champions. Bring them on. I just want to fight the best that this division has to offer.”
Roman’s manager Alex Camponovo of Thompson Boxing also added, “We’re definitely going to push to fight one of the other three champion. “It’s the logical choice moving forward. There are some scheduling hurdles to overcome, but I think it gets done at some point this year and we’ll have a huge fight to look forward to.”
Dogboe took to Twitter to swiftly respond to Team Roman’s comments.
“Firstly, congratulations on your win Danny Roman. You did what you had to do,” Dogboe wrote. “I want to unify and you want to unify. We both want to Unify. Let’s do it. Let’s set the division on fire.
