Story by: Dennis Kweku Moore-Boxing writer/analyst.

Boxingghana has been enthralled by the collection of views and opinions over the inflaming bout between Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’’ Tagoe and Isaac ‘the royal storm’ Dogboe.

Over these few days we have listened to boxing loving fans on their interest and disinterest in the mind game ongoing.

I would like to however emphasize that we have spoken to eminent personalities in the sport and their views are highly included in our analysis.

Dogboe (L) vs Tagoe (R)

It is however bizzare for some ranting sections of the populace to believe that a boxer in the lightweight division cannot fight a boxer in the Super Bantamweight division.

Sufficient research landed BoxingGhana on some notable fights that had happened at the catchweight level.

In fact, catchweight contests are also referred to as a “contract fights”.Period. Both boxers have their inner capacity and respect to accept to fight on the agreed weight limits. No questions about that.

A typical example was the Manny Pacquio – Antonio Margarito fight. Both boxers agreed to fight at a catchweight level, although in the ring of action, the huge Puerto Rican weighed slightly heavier than the Filipino. And I guess you know the result?

Pacquio again fought one of the most dangerous punchers in the Welterweight division -Miguel Cotto at 147-once again you saw how Cotto got hospitalized.

Miguel Cotto(R) against Manny Pacquaio (L)

The little Filipino Congressman took 9the bull by the horn against rugged Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez at a Catchweight contest.

We need to appreciate that Pacman again engaged Oscar De La Hoya at 147 when he weighed 142. Against British sensation, Ricky Hatton at 140, Manny scaled 138.
Am sure many boxing fans would have mocked Pacquio when he decided to take on the likes of Mosley, Cotto ,Bradley and Mayweather. Yes.

Bernard “the Executioner”Hopkins took on Kelly Pavlik in a catchweight contest.

Manny Pacquaio(R) against Anthonio Margarita (L)

In our own backyard,Bukom Banku did it against Bastie Samir. So why this sudden furore?

I share with some elite boxing pundits that should Game Boy had opted for Rafael Mensah it would have been a good trade. Of course!!

It is argued that Dogboe’s pilgrimage desire for Jesse Magdaleno was paramount and that the quick thirst for Tagoe’s call was needless. Well, I agree.

After the Margarito fight, perhaps the shots could be called. Better.

This fight is inevitably going to cloud all other sporting disciplines in the country. Fact! The fans need it. And for those who are insulting the craft of this dream fight on social media should cease and adapt to the options tabled down by the two promoters.

Boxing Ghana will tag the expected showdown “The fight of Pride and Prejudice”

But my question: Why has boxing all of a sudden become the talking point in Ghana? Amazing, isn’t it?I personally believe it was the Bukom Banku- Samir fight that shook the system. I must greatly commend the GBA too under Lawyer Peter Zwennes for that accurate vision to elevate the sport in recent times.

Am sure you would love to watch how the fight would look like? Well, for your relaxation this is how the results of the fight would look like when Isaac ‘the royal storm’ Dogboe responds to the ‘magicman’ in the ring. Enjoy!!!
