Jay Jimenez, the manager of former WBA interim heavyweight title from 2015 to 2016, Louis Ortiz is calling for a showdown against Anthony Joshua
“We are waiting on the WBA and Joshua.
Luis is ready to face Joshua but Joshua is avoiding the Cuban southpaw star like a deadly plague.
“The bottom line is Eddie Hearn and Joshua have both said that they are facing Pulev but nothing is confirmed and the WBA gave them 30 days and that ends on the September 3.
AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn told Sky Sports News: “The WBA called the mandatory yesterday for AJ to face Povetkin next.
“We have a 30 day window to negotiate – at this stage it means it’s very likely Anthony’s next fight will be between Deontay Wilder or Povetkin.” Eddie said.
Joshua must defend his belt or risk losing his titles.
The most feared boxer some weeks ago is now the most sought after simply because of his display against Parker.
Many boxing fans are anxiously anticipating a showdown between Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua, a conviction which is also shared by the very man who helped made the Klitschko- Joshua fight possible
The deal was 50-50 with Klitschko. The [Wilder] fight should be bigger than Klitschko.
“We already said we would accept less than Klitschko. The fight with Parker was 33 [per cent to Parker].
“This is way bigger and Deontay is way bigger than Parker. We said we would take 40 per cent.
“Hopefully today or tomorrow, we’ll have an offer from them, because that’s what he’s said he’s doing.”
“‘I’m ready to fight you in the UK. My team, you asked to meet with yours – they’re ready. Just let us know when and there is nothing on our side as an impediment.’
‘I can’t wait to meet you in the ring,’ that’s what we want. Quoted Shelly Fikel.
But make no mistake, every fight has his dynamics and the possible fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder is a possibility more than a mirage.
