Amidst mass disagreement with comments made earlier in the week against his next opponent, Dominic Breazeale, ahead of their Saturday 18th of May showdown at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York, USA, World Boxing Council World Heavyweight titlist Deontay Leshun Wilder is unrepentant and still relishes killing a man in the ring.
“This is the only sport where you can kill a man and get paid for it at the same time, It’s legal.” Wilder said.
“Dominic Breazeale asked for this. I didn’t go seek him. He [sought] me. So if it comes it comes. This is a brutal sport. This is not a gentleman sport.
“We don’t ask to hit each other in the face but we do anyway. And you can ask any doctor around the world, he will tell you, your head is not meant to be hit.
“On this particular time we have bad blood against each other. This is the only sport where you can kill a man and get paid for it at the same time. It’s legal. So why not use my right to do so?” He bullishly reechoed in an interview.
Most industry players including astute boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn have spoken about the comments and its impact on the sport of boxing.
“Such comments are bad for the sport.” Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sports said.
The American is noted for such comments and even though “It’s legal” as he rightly argues, most stakeholders in the pugilism business are a bit uncomfortable with such wild comments.
Wilder will square off against Dominic Breazeale in a tempestuous encounter with both boxers predicting victory.
