Ghana’s best shot at the world at the moment Richard Oblitey Commey was at the Madison Square Gardens with his celebrated American coach Andre Rozier for two reasons.

First, was to offer moral support to a comrade, countryman and former world champion, Isaac ‘The Royal Storm’ Dogboe, who unfortunately lost to Mexican Emanuel Navarrete via a unanimous points decision early this sunday morning.

Second, was to understudy his potential opponents in the unification bout between Vasiliy Lomachenko versus Pedraza in the very near future should he secure the IBF World title against Russian Isa Chaniev.

Earlier, Lomachenko (12-1,9KOs) added the World Boxing Organization Lightweight World title to his World Boxing Association belt with a unanimous 12-round decision over Jose Pedraza (25-2, 12KOs), meaning Ghana’s world title hopeful Richard Commey could potentially pencil a unification bout against the Ukranian.

But arguably one of the most avoided fighter in the division, Commey (27-2, 24 KOs), must first solve the little but complicated issue of one Isa Chaniev (13-1, 6KOs) in order to accomplish his destiny on the 2nd of February 2019.

Michael Amoo Bediako, Richard Commey’s manager made it known via a tweet in the early ours of sunday morning when he took a shot at his boxer and coach at the Madison Square Gardens in the states……

Richard Commey is Ghana’s clearest hope to the world title at the moment after Isaac Dogboe got defeated yesterday. A nation’s hopes rest on the shoulders of the Jamestown native.
