Lou Dibella, owner of Dibella Entertainment and promoter of Ghana’s IBF world champion Richard Commey, has stated that the Ghanaian is aiming at a title unification battle with Lomachenko
“Richard wants to be a unified champion and a star.” He said. “We’re thrilled that his first defense will be a high-profile fight against tenacious former world champion Ray Beltran.” the experienced promoter stated before the bout.
Richard Commey raised his stocks high on Friday night at the Pechanga Resort & Casino, Temecula, California when he KOed the experienced Raymundo Beltran, a former world champion in round 8 to defend his International Boxing Federation World Lightweight strap that he won in a sensational fashion against Russian Isa Chaniev on February 2nd.
The bout was promoted by Bob Arum’s Top Rank and headlined ESPN show on Friday night, and it sure did not disappoint as the Ghanaian dropped his Mexican all action boxer four times before referee Edward Hernandez Sr. decided to halt the bout.
DiBella, Chief Executive Officer of DiBella Entertainment, expressed his admiration for the ever improving and the division’s most feared boxer Richard Oblitey Commey.
“Richard Commey, the pride of Ghana, is a physically imposing, hard-punching lightweight champion,” said Lou DiBella.
Commey’s latest feat against the self styled “Sugar” depicts how fast his boxing profile is catching up world-wide. Commey is set to face the winner of Masayoshi Nakatan – Teofimo Lopez later this year before the hugely anticipated battle against Ukranian southpaw Vasiliy Lomachenko in the first quarter of 2020.
