Champion’s Legacy: Stanley Nyantakyi Takes the Spotlight at Boxing Ghana Awards
The 2024 Boxing Ghana Awards delivered energy and spectacle, unforgettably celebrating boxing. Stanley Nyantakyi triumphed as Professional Boxer of the Year, chosen from an impressive roster of nominees.
Boxing Ghana has firmly established itself as a powerful media voice, actively championing the sport’s rich heritage both in Ghana and on the international stage. These awards recognize and celebrate the exceptional talent and significant contributions that are propelling the progress of boxing forward.
This category featured professional boxers, including John Laryea, Joseph Commey, Theophilus Kpakpo Allotey, Derrick Quaye, Stanley Nyantakyi, Joseph Commey, Abigail Quartey, and John Zile, all of them title holders in various divisions. An impressive 782 fans and professionals participated in the online voting process, showcasing their enthusiasm. Stanley Nyantakyi, alias ‘Ashanti Warrior” triumphed in the competition with 192 votes, translating to 24.5%.
Stanley Nyantakyi, a talented super featherweight boxer, made his professional debut with a stunning second-round knockout of Albert Armah and continues to aim for a world championship Signed with Osebor Boxing Management, he also claimed victory on the Sheriff Quaye vs. Bright Ayala WBO Africa lightweight championship card.
Among other notable boxers, 22-year-old John Laryea, known as “Expensive Boxer” secured a win over Alexander Mejia in Florida, gathering 149 votes (19.1%). Joseph Commey and Theophilus Kpa followed with 108 votes (13.8%) and 107 votes (13.7%), respectively. These achievements reflect the remarkable contributions of Ghanaian boxers this past year.
The Boxing Ghana Awards spotlighted these achievements, motivating companies and individuals to extend support. Mr. Sammy Ofosuhene, CEO and Managing Chief Editor of Boxing Ghana, expressed gratitude for voter engagement and commended the achievements of Ghanaian boxers, highlighting their remarkable contributions to the sport.
