The Chief Executive Officer of Streetwise Management, Mr. Michael Amoo-Bediako has praised the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) for lifting the two-year ban imposed on former International Boxing Federation(IBF) bantamweight champion Richard Commey.
Commey, 34, was slapped with a two-year ban by the Executive Board of the GBA earlier this year following comments he made about some members of the boxing governing body in a TV interview.
But after a series of meetings by the Executive Board and other stakeholders of the sport, the former world Champion had his two-year ban lifted last month.
In a statement about the subject matter, Mr. Michael Amoo-Bediako who is the manager of Richard Commey was full of praise for the newly formed Executive Board of the GBA.
“We understand that this is a new regime who are working hard to push Ghanaian boxing forward and help steer it to its rightful place at the top of African boxing and to the top table of world boxing.
“Commey has always been proud of representing Ghana and likewise myself doing as much as I can for the country of my heritage so it’s important that we all stand together with the same purpose,” Mr. Amoo-Bediako said in a statement.
He also expressed gratitude to the overlord of the Ga traditional area, Nii Tacki Tsuru II and his Personal Assistant Man-nye Ohetse who played a crucial role in the mediation process to resolve the matter with the GBA.
“We would like to put this issue firmly behind us and we look forward to working together for the greater good of Ghanaian boxing,” the statement said.
Mr. Amoo-Bediako’s statement was concluded by calls for support to the Ricahrd Commey ahead of his next bout against Vasily Lomanchenko later this year.
