Bukom Banku Targets GMA Dance Hall King Of The Year Award
Braimah Kamoko aka Bukom Banku has disclosed that his eyes are fixed on the 2020 Ghana Music Awards (GMA) Dance Hall Artist of the year.
Speaking to the media, the multi talented public figure who is also a boxing champion under the accolade ‘African Mayweather’ said as the coronavirus has halted all activities including football and boxing matches, he has decided to concentrate on his music and politics.
Bukom Banku who is a staunch supporter of the NDC and super fan of former President John Mahama said he has more songs as he even began singing before entering into boxing, and he believes his music can win the Dance Hall Song of the year as he takes the Dance Hall Artiste of the year.
He saluted Shatta Wale, Stone Bwoy and others doing Dance Hall as great kings, but stressed that his time for fame in music is due.
His latest compositions including ‘Lighter’ are all over. They are being played in the local communities, especially Bukom, James Town, Korle Gonno, Mamprobi, Chorkor and Dansoman.
He said music has been his passion and has composed and written a lot of songs in English, Twi and Ga languages.
As a boxer the World Boxing Union (WBU) International Cruiser weight champion is looking forward to defend his title until the covid-19 invaded. He has over 30 fights with only one defeat in the hands of Batie Samir.
He warned Ghanaians that the coronavirus pandemic is real, and so they should stay home, wash their hands with soap under running water frequently and use sanitizers.
He also encouraged people to observe social distancing and most importantly use nose and mouth masks to curb the spread of the disease.
Bukom Banko commended the President Nana Akufo Addo and MP for Odododiodoo, Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuje for managing the coronavirus situation.
