Bronx Gym Celebrates Successful Boxing Season

James Town based Bronx Boxing Gym on Wednesday, January 1, 2020  held a get together for their boxers, trainers and fans ahead of the 2020 season.

The toast of the party was head coach / director, Lawrence Carl Lokko and their latest title holder, featherweight champion, Felix Ajom who won the National and Professional Boxing Council belts against Bukom boy Michael Pappoe.

In attendance were executives of the Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GBSU) and Friends of Boxing.

Some of the boxers the Bronx Gym has produced are Commey, John Laryea, Jacob Dickson, Ishmael Neequaye, Emmanuel Anim, Ben Ankrah (Congo Soldier) and Felix Ajom. World rated Duke Micah also trained at the Bronx Gym before moving to the USA.

Carl Lokko who is deputy technical director of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) said all the boxers in the Bronx Gym are focused to be great personalities in the future, and everyone is a potential champion, so discipline is their main weapon.

“I always advice my boxers to be respectful, and they are climbing steadily to the top. We hope to produce more champions for Ghana. Our target is the world and we are working very hard” he said.

Stephen Ashie, president of the GBSU prayed for more successes on the Bronx Gym so that they will produce more quality boxers from the juvenile, amateur to the professional levels.

Vice president of GBSU, Samuel Nana Gyan assured Bronx Gym boxers of massive support anytime they are fighting and advised them to be obedient to their coaches.

Ebenezer Adjei of Black Panthers Gym who was there to show solidarity support commended the boxers and urges them to train very hard and win more titles for Ghana.
