Bronx Boxing Club Crowned Ghana’s Best Gym/Club-A legacy of Excellence Since 2004
The 2024 Boxing Ghana Awards showcased the vibrancy and excellence of boxing in Ghana, leaving a lasting impression on attendees. Bronx Boxing Club was awarded the prestigious Boxing Club/Gym of the Year title, triumphing over a strong lineup of contenders.
Boxing Ghana has established itself as a key platform for promoting the sport’s heritage in Ghana and abroad. This year’s awards highlighted the remarkable talents and contributions shaping the future of boxing.
Nominees in the Boxing Club/Gym category included Bronx Boxing Club, Blank Panthers Boxing Foundation, Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation, Jamestown Boxing Club, among others. Out of 782 voters, Bronx Boxing Club secured 218 votes (27.9%) to take the top honor.
Known for producing Ghana’s only continental champions, Bronx Boxing Club is led by Carl Lokko and boasts over 40 amateur and professional boxers striving to win accolades for the country. The club is home to notable fighters like Sherrif Quaye, John Laryea, Jacob Tetteh Laryea, and Daniel Gosh. Established in 2004, it has produced boxing legends such as former IBF Champion Richard Commey, former WBC Silver Champion Duke Micah, former IBO World Champion Emmanuel Tagoe, former WBC Silver Champion Frederick Lawson, and WBO Africa Champion Isaac Braimah Kamoko, also known as Bukom Banku.
Close runners-up included Jamestown Boxing Club, which earned 179 votes (22.9%), Blank Panthers Boxing Foundation with 158 votes (20.2%), and Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation with 115 votes (14.7%). These achievements reflect the incredible dedication of Ghanaian boxing clubs and gyms.
The Boxing Ghana Awards recognized these milestones and called on businesses and individuals to invest in the sport. Sammy Ofosuhene, CEO and Managing Chief Editor of Boxing Ghana, thanked the voters for their enthusiasm and celebrated the outstanding contributions of Ghanaian boxers to the sport.
