Former IBF world Super Featherweight champion Tevin Farmer (30-5-1, 6KOs) via his twitter handle earlier today hinted he’s going to fight in Accra, Ghana on May 21.

The American southpaw who last fought on 30th January, 2020 is reportedly set to shake off ring rust against another former world champion (IBF lightweight) American orthodox Mikey “The Spirit” Bey (23-3-1, 11KOs). Tevin Farmer (born July 30, 1990) held the IBF super featherweight title from 2018 to 2020. Farmer, who is right handed but fights in a southpaw stance, is known for his old school style and slick defensive skills.

He had his pro debut on February 10, 2011 against Oscar Santana which ended in defeat via a round 4 TKO. Farmer so far has won the UBC International Lightweight title in 2013, the NABF Super Feather Title in 2016 and the International Boxing Federation (IBF) World Super Feather Title in 2018 which he eventually lost it to Joseph Diaz in 2020 via a unanimous decision after the twelve rounds.

Tevin Farmer knocked out James Tennyson in the 5th round to win the IBF world Super Featherweight title

Farmer’s opponent come fight night in Accra, Mickey Bey 38, will also look forward to shake off ring rust with a win as he begins to draw down the curtains on his pro career after seventeen (17) years of professional Boxing. Mickey Bey is a former world champion who held the IBF world lightweight title (same title Richard Commey won back in 2019) in 2014 and lost it to Rances Barthelemy in 2016.

It will be a great night in Accra, Ghana when both former world champions rumble together at the centre of the earth in a Lightweight showdown after both jousted on social media, with multiple backs and forth occurring on various online platforms, with both parties openly agreeing to a lightweight showdown.

Mickey Bey decisioned Miguel Vazquez to win the IBF World lightweight title

Mickey Bey earlier this year said “We’ve both been champions of the world, and we are both at that stage in our careers where we need to sink or swim, there’s a lot on the line in this fight.”

He continued “Tevin has agreed to the fight, so now let’s see where it takes us. We’re both free agents, so this fight is exciting as it has the possibility to land anywhere, on the best platform that would want it. So this fight is easy to make from a broadcaster standpoint and I know it’s a fight that will have people watching.”

“I see this fight as a good fight for me to get back in the mix and a good fight for the fans. It’s going to be an entertaining chess match and I can’t see any other result than a Mickey Bey victory.

“I’m taking things one step at a time, but I want a few more good fights before my career is over. I’ve always lived the fighter’s life, and I’m in the fight game as a fighter for a good time now, not a long time.”

Boxing fans around the world, especially in Ghana will be looking forward to this titanic clash on May 21.
