Ghana put up a great fight but failed to advanced to the semi finals of the on going 62nd Bockai Istvan Memorial International Boxing Tournament in Debrecen, Hungary.

Two split decisions of (2-1) against Ghana were enough to see the West African hopefuls out of the semi finals to be staged tomorrow.

The Black Bombers put up some spirited performances worthy of the accolade ‘fight of the tournament’ when both Nii Noi and Shaku Samed both got a split decision 2-1 against them.

They were a delight to watch as the Hungarian crowd applauded their aggression and fighting spirit.

Vice President of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation Abdul Salad Mohammed though disappointed , was very impressed with the good showing .

“Admittedly we have a lot of home work to do back home, you saw the fights, our boxers did very well but got defeated by a 2-1 split decisions.

“You saw how Impressed the Hungarian crowd were with our boxers but we need to learn from these. We have a lot of homework to do. It’s a very good exhibition by our boxers and the experience chalked must be harnessed going forward.

After all that was the ultimate aim of participation.

We have great talents but must groom them well. ” retorted the Vice President.

Though the Black Bombers lost to Belarus the team is gunning for the best African team of the tournament.
