Boxing Is Life, Boxers Need Attention And Support -Coach Ebenezer ‘Killer’Adjei

Head trainer of the Black Panthers Gym, Coach Ebenezer Adjei has revealed that Boxing really has impacted his life dearly.

Speaking to Yours Truly on Omashi TV, The Big Fight Night programme last Friday, he noted that boxing is what has made him popular and famous and given him hope in life.

He expressed that boxing has made it possible for him to travel to some countries and he believes there are more places to go and more things to do to contribute to Ghana Boxing.

Discussing the reasons why the Black Bombers failed to qualify for Paris 2024, he blamed the sports authorities, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Olympic Committee because after the national team got seven medals at the 13th African Games, they should have been camped and prepared well for the world qualifier.

But the authorities were reluctant and did not inspire or motivate the boxers.

He advised that they should have been camped somewhere far from Accra and prepared well because training at the Accra Sports Stadium without any allowance and inspiration is not good.

He hinted that the treatment given to national team boxers is what prompts him to turn his boxers to professionals at a younger age, so that they train hard and feel the professionalism.

According to him, Ghana can do very well in Boxing if the sport is given the needed attention, investment and sponsorship.

He thanked people he had worked with like coaches Carl Lokko, Dr. Ofori Asare. Charles Quartey, Ben Odametey, Solomon Otoo and the GBA as well as the United Boxing Coaches Association which he is the Organiser.

He said sports is performed with age, so the young boys and girls should be discovered and groomed in time, so that they can be sports at a good time, before they are old or expired.

He urged young boxers to beware of girls because they can give problems.

Coach Killer thanked the media who promote boxers, especially Nii Adjor, Atukpai Mantse, CEO of The Gym / Omashie Media and boxinghana.com.

“If you are a boxer with an aim or ambition, beware of the girls, they are dangerous ” he stated.

Coach Adjei also known as ‘Killer has discovered skilful boxers like SWAG Professional Boxer of the Year, Alfred Lamptey who holds five international belts and Michael Abban, the current National Super Lightweight Champion.

“I believe in education and sports, so I make sure I give opportunity to all boxers who want to further their education, in fact we have learnt a lot and don’t want to do mistake” he added.
