The CEO of Box Office Sports Promotions, Mr. Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye has urged boxing fans especially in Ghana to rally behind former IBO world champion Emmanuel Tagoe.

Despite Tagoe’s unanimous decision defeat to Ryan Garcia in the night of April 9, the boxing guru entreats all to cherish and encourage our (Ghanaian) boxers to do even more to lift the flag of Ghana high. Emmanuel Tagoe prior to the fight made big promises to his fans and Mr. Ntiamoah explains why this was so

“Boxing as part of showbiz should always get people who talk to sell fights, Tagoe did that and the show was a sold out, though he didn’t leave up to expectation but he didn’t perform woefully and shouldn’t be a laughing stock of people who don’t like him.” He advised

The Box Office Sports’ CEO went on to explain, giving lots of credit to Emmanuel Tagoe for his enviable records earning him a headliner bout despite not being a world title fight.

“At least keeping a winning streak to get to that level is an achievement in itself to sell Ghana to the world as that event though had a world championship bout on it but Garcia-Tagoe was the main event on the night meaning Tagoe got to the top spot though wasn’t a world title fight.”

The President of the Boxing Promoters Association of Ghana advised the fans to desist from laughing and booing at the boxers when don’t get desired result, but rather encourage them to lift up the spirit and do better next time

“We should cherish our own and encourage them and not to dampen their spirit just because they lost a fight. We saw what the British supporters did for Ricky Hatton even when stopped by Manny Pacquiao they still cheered on and supported him and that’s the way to encourage your boxers to bounce back.” He concluded
