According to George Lamptey, president of the Ghana Boxing Federation, the Black Bombers are currently in camp preparing to take a training tour to Cape Verde in a zone 2 tournament set for July 14th to 20th, but Ghana is yet to make confirmation of its participation because of financial challenges.

“We are unable to confirm participation for now because of some financial difficulties. We are going to host Nigeria here in Ghana in a similar training programme. But you never know, let’s hope we get some support very soon since it’s next month.” George Lamptey expressed.

The Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), are still striving to get some sponsorship package for the veteran trainer and AIBA Instructor, Kwasi Ofori Asare led Black Bombers. The astute coach is promising more medals in the upcoming competitions, including the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games set for Japan.

But preparations to get the team in the best of shape is still under a lot of strain as the team is still battling with their limited scarce financial resources.

When boxingghana.com caught up with the Cape Verde boxing President, Flavio Furtado, he was equally worried that Ghana was yet to confirm it’s participation.

” We have a zone 2 tournament in July 14 to 20, but Ghana is not already confirmed. The president (George Lamptey) is yet to confirm their participation.” Flavio said.

What is undeniably a fact is that, the current crop of Bombers are arguably the best Ghana has ever had, and are capable of winning many medals.
