Bawa Sheriff Apanga Showed Resilience, Qualifies to the finals of the GBF Individual Championship

Bawa sheriff, a boxer from the Upper West Region has made his mark at this year’s 2022 National Individual Championship by qualifying to the finals of the Middle division. He’s currently only a bout away from Gold. Later today, he will take on Volta Region’s David Amenuveve.

Bawa is proud of his achievement and has showed much tenacity in the tournament refusing to bow out in spite of a swelling on his eye.

He said, “I am fighting not for myself alone, I am fighting for the whole of Northern Ghana and all Ghanaians and I cannot disappoint them”.

 

He has fought his heart out in spite of low level of resources back home. Training with very few equipments.

Sheriff has been in boxing raising the flag of Ghana for a while now. In 2019, Bawa made the National Team and his younger brother Ganiu took to social media predicting his explosion in the coming years and asked Ghanaians to look out for him.

 

On 20th November, 2021, Coach Ofori Asare posted a photo of a smiling Bawa and tipped him for greatness, naming him the pride of the Northern Regions of Ghana.

Other boxers from parts of the northern parts of the country bowed out of the tournament. The Coaches are proud of Bawa and believe in him as the pride of the North in Ghana Boxing.
