There certainly is a natural mystic of success and stardom brewing in both the Bronx Boxing Gym and Ghana’s most powerful promotion house BabyJet Promotions’ C.E.O Samuel Anim Addo as he signs on-board a talent to behold, a great prospect in John Laryea.

Nicknamed “The Expensive Boxer,” John Laryea  started boxing at age nine on the streets before he was scouted by the astute boxing trainer, a brewer of talents- Carl Lawrence Lokko.

For us at BoxingGhana, we are not the least surprised that a giant promotional house led by Samuel Anim Addo of the BabyJet Promotions thought it wise to pen him down on a five year deal yesterday at the Bronx Boxing Gym at Jamestown.

John Laryea is set to make his debut on Saturday night the 20th of October at the first ever Asamoah Gyan Fight Night1 christened in the Bukom Boxing Arena at Accra against another debutant called Emmanuel Laryea.

Most boxing coaches would tell you that it takes hours in the gym and years to develop the specific characteristics needed to be a great boxer but John Laryea according to his handlers, is such a fast learner.

John Laryea is such an athlete with blistering desire and skills, he’s got quick hands and his power punching accuracy is such a delight to watch.

Guess what, boxing runs in the family, with former Commonwealth light middleweight champion Obodai the miracle Sai as his direct cousin.

With his role model in the likes of Mikey Garcia and Frederick Lawson, I quizzed the young boxer why he opted the Bronx Boxing Gym

“Bronx GYM has harvested good boxers like Frederick Lawson, Duke Micah, Richard Commey, Kpakpo Allotey, Bukom Banku and many others, I am hoping to emulate and better them.” John Laryea stated confidently.

At age 18, the Jamestown native is already dreaming of winning world Bantamweight strap in the next two years but is fully aware that he must get past his first opponent in Emmanuel Laryea

“I want to stop him via a TKO, this is my first fight and I want to make a mark  so it’s going to be quick.” He said.

Indeed, if you read carefully you would know that truly a star is in the making and where best than the great Bronx Boxing Gym and the powerhouse of boxing promotions’ Chief Executive Officer Samuel Anim Addo.

Commendations must be granted to the Chief Executive Officer in charge of BabyJet Promotions, Samuel Anim Addo for his diligence in spotting such a great talent for the future.
