Aberdeen born Lee McAllister will square off against Ghana’s Justice Addy in a Professional Boxing Council Intercontinental Championship and Professional Boxing Council Commonwealth Championships at the Hoops, Thorncliffe Road, Barrow-in-Furnace, United Kingdom come Saturday August 24.
Lee McAllister, 42-3-0, is the favourite going into the bout against Justice Addy, 16-5-1, in a twelve rounder middleweight championship.
David Arday Codjoe, famed Justice Addy, has chalked 22 bouts in a 118 rounds of boxing, translated into 64% KOs. He recently attempted vacant Ghanaian Welterweight Title against Joseph Lamptey but lost via UD.
Daniel Aduku, Sani Yidana Kugblie are his most recent victims. In 2006, Addy attempted the WBO Africa Welterweight belt against Ali Funeka at the Queenstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa but suffered a TKO.
He comes up against Scotsman Lee McAllister, a veteran who made his debut in 2002 and has a 42-3 record having secured the vacant BBBofC Scottish Area Light Title against Stuart Green in 2006 in his maiden title bout.
Lee also defeated Ghana’s Ben Odamattey for the vacant World Boxing Foundation International Light Title in 2007 on points at the Beach Ballroom, Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom. Interestingly, Ben Odamattey secured a draw with Justice Addy when the two clashed gloves in 2013 at the Seconds Out Boxing Gymnasium in Accra- Ghana.
The “Aberdeen Assassin”, is a former World Boxing Union (1995-2004) Light Titlist, World Boxing Union (1995-2004) Super Light Titlist, BBBofC British Light Titlist, Commonwealth (British Empire) Light Titlist, International Boxing Organization International Super Light Titlist and so on.
His last defeat was against Denis Shafikov, a boxer who controversially defeated Ghana’s sole world titlist Richard Commey via a Split Decision in 2016.
The Ghanaian is going to fight a boxer who previously stepped up seven weight classes to fight Danny Williams and still won. Lee McAllister had previously floored four Ghanaian boxers namely Isaac Quartey, Samuel Amoako, Godfriend Sowah and Ben Odamattey.
He possesses the experience and the speed hands to urge it over the Ghanaian, but then again in boxing anything is possible.
