Vincent Mbilinyi must clash gloves with Ghana’s young promising boxer Robert Quaye for a chance to secure the interim World Boxing Organisation Africa Super Lightweight Title come the 26th of December, 2018 at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra-Ghana.
It is said in the art of pugilism, once a boxer wins two or more belts they are called undisputed champions or “superb champions.” Well these guys are young but aspiring to achieve that feat.
As always, let’s get a closer look at the two boxers.
VINCENT MBILINYI
Mbilinyi currently possesses the Tanzania Professional Boxing Commission Lightweight Title which he secured in 2016 against Adam Mrisho (11-2, 7KOs)over ten rounds.
He made his debut 3 years ago on the 30th day of January 2015 against Kulwa Bushiri which he emerged victorious by outpointing his opponent over four rounds.
The Dar-Es-Salaam born boxer, has only tasted defeat once in his career, and that was against Saidi Mundi also of Tanzania. Coincidentally Saidi Mundi was knocked out by the now retired Moses Paulus in his attempt to win the African lightweight strap last year.
The 26 year old Mbilinyi is not an average knockout artiste, with his 14 professional bouts so far chalked, he can only boast of a 41 percentage knockout ratio culminating into 10 victories, 3 draws, and one defeat in semantics.
Mbilinyi ‘s last three fights resulted in victories against Adam Mrisho, Hassan Shemdoe who was only making his debut but got KOed in the second round over 6 rounds, then Said Bakari who is yet to command a single victory in his four professional bouts so far in his career.
ROBERT QUAYE
The Ghanaian who made his debut in June 26, 2015 has stated time without number that indeed, this fight is only a precursor to his ultimate ambition, unseating Maurice Hooker for his strap. Maurice Dewayne Hooker is currently the holder of the WBO Light Welterweight title which he won against Terry Flanagan in June of this year 2018.
“I am already targeting the title. The truth is that I am the one supposed to be in Maurice Hooker’s place.
I am the true champion and all I’m waiting for is the opportunity to fight for it. So Mbilinyi is not part of my worries at all,” The self styled ‘Stopper’ said in an interview.
Robert Quaye is the current holder of the Ghanaian Super Lightweight Title he won against hard puncher, Nathaniel Kpapko Allotey via a ninth round stopaged in the last Asamoah Gyan fight Night One which was organised by BabyJet Promotions.
With his 16 bouts and 71 rounds of boxing so far, the man nicknamed “The Stopper” commands an incredible KO ratio of 81 percentage.
Robert Quaye recently signed a three year promotional and managerial deal with the Don’s Promotions and has everything going for him at the moment.
ANALYSIS
These are two young, hungry and ambitious boxers hoping to launch their careers in the biggest stage.
Both Robert Quaye and Vincent Mbilinyi have one aim of winning the vacant strap in order to get into the ratings and eventually, a possible shot at the world title.
Comparing the two boxers, the Ghanaian passed his biggest test in his last bout against Nathaniel Kpakpo Allotey with that convincing victory. He fought like a lion with some power combinations and some hard splitting upper-cuts with abundant energy.
Against a boxer whose last fight was against Saidi Bakari who is yet to win a fight in four attempts as a professional boxer
Our little investigation conducted shows that both Said Bakari and Hassan Shemdoe are not regarded as credible boxers in Tanzania.
Infact his first credible opposition was Saidi Mundi which resulted in a defeat. His most competitive fight was against a debutant in Msafiri Haule who is currenlty inactive and the bout ended in a draw.
PREDICTION:
But for complacency and overconfidence which must be communicated to the Ghanaian Robert Quaye, this fight will end in a stark KO in favour of the Ghanaian.
VERDICT: A ROBERT QUAYE VICTORY BY TKO
