Don’s Promotions newest signing Felix Williams (27-1,20 KOs) is set to clash gloves with World Boxing Council Asian Boxing Council Silver Featherweight Titlist Arnel Baconaje (11-3, 9KOs) from the Philippines on 9th August at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra-Ghana.
Christened the ‘Battle for Supremacy,’ both Felix Williams and Obodai Sai are co-headlining the crack match-ups.
Arnel Tolentino Baconaje (Arnel Baconaje)
“The Silencer” comes into the fight brewing with confidence after silencing Tomjune Mangubat via a round 8 TKO at Parkmall Mandaue City, Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines. Tomjune was undefeated before that encounter with an impressive 9 victories all by way of KOs.
The 25 year old Arnel Baconaje is a former Philippines Boxing Federation (PBF) Super Bantamweight Champion and possess an incredible record of 14 bouts in 68 rounds of boxing which translates in 64 percent KO ratio.
The San Rafael, Iloilo native is such a
warrior and has very good technical handlers. His recent victory against the hard-hitting ‘War Dog’ in Mangubat came as a big surprise and suddenly his stocks are sky rocketing.
The quality of the Philipino’s sparring partners are second to none and a typical example is current world champion Sor Rungvisai.
Felix Williams
The Ghana based Nigerian boxer is the newest addition to the Don’s Promotions ever growing flamboyant stables which houses the likes of Bastie Samir, Patrick Ayi, Theophilus Tetteh, Robert Quaye and Obodai Sai.
Felix is an exceptional boxer with an enviable record of 27 wins against one defeat with Fatiou Fassinou when he attempted the vacant World Boxing Council International Silver Super Bantamweight Title five years ago in 2014. He has since chalked 11 back to back victories.
The Nigerian is a former Ghanaian Super Bantamweight Titlist and commands 28 bouts in 166 rounds of pure pugilism action culminating in KOs percentage ratio of 71.
Some of his very recent victims are Mouibi Sarouna whom he KOed in round 1, Isaac Okine, David Kotey all by KOs. With his (27-1,20 KOs), Felix is one of the most feared boxers in his division.
Analysis and Prediction
Warren Mambuanag first defeated the Philipino Arnel Baconaje over two rounds, Mambuanag has won almost as much as his defeats with a record (11-10-2 3KOs) and is currently not active in the boxing market.
He equally lost to Ernesto Saulong via a round 4 TKO. His recent debacle was against Japanese super bantamweight Yasutaka Ishimoto at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan last year when he was brutally KOed out in round 7.
His strength is his resilience and ability to create openings for himself as he does not need a second invitation to take a chance.
But he comes up against a typical boxer puncher in Felix Williams. A boxer with the ability to fight through the pain with the penchant for knockouts, powered themselves through the jaws of defeat.
Williams is a type of boxer capable of powering himself through the jaws of defeat and is a very smart boxer.
Prediction
Arnel Baconaje is a good young boxer with the right conditioning but truth be told he is yet to face any boxer in the caliber of Felix Williams who possesses so much craft and experience.
A victory for Felix Williams.
