Over the weekend, the Bukom Boxing Arena was filled with boxing fans for the 4th Fight Night of the DeLuxy Professional Boxing League.

The jubilant crowd was very excited with the bout lineups and parings. However, the biggest winners of the night was the Akotoku Boxing Academy who recorded their first official win of the tournament so far.

Akotoku Boxing Academy is one of the oldest clubs in Ghana. The club has been in existence for over half a decade.

Akotoku Boxing Academy has produced several champions including Azumah Nelson, D.K. Poison and Alfred Kotey. However, since the inception of the new Professional Boxing League, the club is yet to find its shine.

The club started the league going up against Attoh Quarshie Boxing Club. In a match-up that was described by many as a mismatch, debutant Isaac Taylor came up against former WBO Africa Super-bantamweight champion Isaac Sackey. The determined first timer lost on points.

Over the weekend, Isaac Taylor redeem himself by winning his second fight in the league, improving his record to 1-1. Isaac Taylor came up against Adam Hab Deen Salanon in a super featherweight contest over six rounds. The judges on the night scored 60-59, 57-57, 59-57 in favour of Taylor. The bout was officiated by Referee Richard Amevi. Misters Ishmeal Williams, Bright Obeng and David Mills were the judges of this bout.

Akotoku Boxing Academy’s current performance statistics in the league is 1 win, 1 draw and 2 loses.

The excited Akotoku Team were all smiles while Taylor exhibited his dance moves to the crowd.
