Ajom dropped Malik Jabir twice en route to a round 5 TKO

The national and PBC featherweight champion Felix Ajom delivered what everybody expected, aggressively punishing Abdul Malik Jabir and dropping him twice to a round 5 TKO win.

The Saturday 7th March Independence day fight which was originally scheduled to be headlined by Sherif Quaye and Michael Ansah was headlined By Felix Ajom and Abdul Malik Jabir when the fight was called off due to an injury Michael Ansah sustained in a motorbike accident. The two have agreed to take the fight on a rescheduled date on May 30.

Ajom (15-2-1, 12 KOs), 25 was on the front foot dispensing skillful boxing, attacking, dishing out good left hooks and left jabs relentlessly.
Round one started with Jabir attacking with heavier overhead hooks amidst jeers and cheers from the crowd but was caught with a right uppercut sending him to the canvas only 2 minutes in the first round. What started as an exciting fight rather became a beatdown, true assault and severe punishment for Abdul Malik Jabir as the first travelled.

Ajom steadily maintained composure shooting jabs and landing more punches as he catches the veteran boxer on the counter.
“I took my time to deliver on the night because Malik Jabir is not a cheap boxers, he is more experienced and can surprise me” Ajom said.
“I relied on the counter more because of the punches he was throwing and need to be careful with him so that I don’t get surprised”. He explained.

Ajom continue the incessant punishment of Jabir landing more punches which wobbled Jabir many times in the fourth round. Boxing fans begin to call on the referee to stop the fight and save Jabir from the torrential punishment he was receiving but Jabir kept coming with wild punches without success. Ajom landed a solid left hook and straight right to the chin and face of Jabir and dropped him to the canvas again. Referee May Mensah Akapko counted Jabir, asked him to walk towards him but Jabir has lost his legs, walked towards the referee in a maze finding his way to the referee. He hugged Jabir and waved his hands off to end the fight.

Ajom had come back from a Unanimous decision win over Michael Papoe to win the national and PBC super featherweight titles and was very confident on the night in retaining the titles.
“I knew I was going to retain the title in a convincing style and I proudly did just that” said Ajom.

Another gruelling under card which lighted the Arena was between young enterprising boxer, Alfred Lamptey (6-0, 4 KOs), 17 and Raymond Commey (19-11, 10 KOs), 32 in a featherweight contest over six rounds. The fight ended in a Unanimous decision win with judges scoring 59-55, 59-55 and 59-55 for Lamptey.

John Layea also pounded Mustapha Appiah and recorded a round 3 TKO improving its records to (7-0-1, 5 KOs).

Lambert Fogoum also recorded a round 6 TKO against Stephen Abbey to win the Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) cruiserweight strap.

Sensational and the toast of boxing fan, Faisal Abubakari recorded a round 2 KO against Francis Apallo exhibiting class and showmanship.
