Vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Intercontinental Bantamweight Title is up for grabs as Ghana’s Joseph ‘King Kong’ Agbeko gets ready for battle against Ugandan boxer Frank Kiwalabye.
The two time former world champion Joseph Agbeko is desperate to get back into the ring after his November 2017 victory over Jabir.
The fight is on Friday 30th-March-2018 at Aflao in the Volta Region of Ghana.
When boxingghana.com contacted the coach of the Ugandan pugilist, he reiterated the fact that age was not on the side of Agbeko.
“The Ghanaian boxer is very experinced boxer but age is now a big factor, this is where my boxer has a chance ” Vincent told boxingghana.com
When Vincent Kato was further quizzed to make a definite prediction, he opted otherwise but only to say that ” In boxing anything can happen. ”
Kato has a lot of respect for the former world champion but is still very optimistic that a surprise is on the card tomorrow.
After his defeat against Guillermo Rigondeaux(17-1, 11 KOs) in 2013, Agbeko has worked his way back into a title contention against four strong fighters with his last win coming against Malik Jabir in November 3rd 2017.
His record now stands at 38 fights, 33 victories with 5 defeats and 25 by way of Knockouts.
At 38, Agbeko faces a very young And strong but inexperienced Frank Kiwalabye who has won 15 fights and yet to taste a defeat.
Frank has eighty percentage knockout ratio with his 12 Knockouts chalked in his young career.
His last fight was against Sula Kutumba whom he dispatched easily at the sixth round in the month of November 2017.
He also defeated the very resilient Sony Kalule (9-2,0) that same year.
But in all, experience will play a major part in this bout since Frank is yet to fight a proven fighter like Joseph ‘King Kong’ Agbeko of Ghana.
A two- time former bantamweight world champion Agbeko, having held the IBF title twice between 2007 and 2011 is too much experienced for the very young Frank Kiwalabye.
This fight is tauted in Uganda as a career shaping bout for 24-year-old Kiwalabye.
Like Coach Vincent Kato reiterated, In boxing anything can happen but certainly not on this one.
