AFRICA’S PROGRESS REPORT: 34 African boxers have been eliminated and 20 won their fights

Africa entered 73 boxers from 25 countries for the 2nd World Olympic Qualification Tournament.

After the fourth day of the competition on Monday (May 27), 34 African boxers have been eliminated and 20 won their fights. Now it’s 39 boxers left battling for the remaining 51 slots, 28 for men and 23 for women.

A total of 188 boxers have have so far qualified for the Paris Olympics with 18 from Africa.

Nine boxers – five women and four men – will be picked by IOC in the universality spots to bring the total number to 248 – 124 men and 124 women in 13 weight categories – for the Paris Olympics.
