AFRICA PREPARES TO CELEBRATE FIRST OLYMPIC BOXING MEDAL TONIGHT

Africa’s avid boxing fans are preparing to uncork their champagne bottles tonight with an assurance of the first medal.

The eagerly awaited flyweight quarter- final between Zambia’s ring technician Patrick “Baddo” Chinyemba and Cape Verde’s David Pina has all the ingredients of a thriller and masterclass show.

The fight starts at at 21:04hrs which will be 10.04 East African time.

Both boxers have been tight-lipped on the bout, preferring to let the ring decide who’s the better of the two..Chinyemba is one up having defeated Pina in the 2020 Olympic qualifiers in Senegal.

Each one of them is of course eager to advance to the semis to meet either world champion Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov or Kazakhstan’s Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Saken Bibossinov both of whom meet in another quarter-final cracker tonight.

Ring analysts tip Chinyemba and Dusmatov to power their way to the semis. What about to you? What’s your pick?
