Ace Power Promotions holds a successful Seminar on ‘Uplifting Ghana Boxing’

The event which was well attended by boxers, coaches, referees, medics, promoters, managers, matchmakers, fans and journalists took place at Bukom Boxing Arena on Wednesday from 3pm to 10pm.

Stakeholders were encouraged to be professional, ethical and play positive roles to ensure improvements.

The seminar used viral and physical presence to communicate and achieved its objectives.

Dr. Addae – Opoku Amoako, founder of Ace Power Promotions commended the participants who were seeking knowledge and answers to make Ghana Boxing better.

Lawyer Kizito Akudago in his welcome address commended Ace Power Promotions for contributing a lot in developing and promoting boxing in Ghana.

The resource people courted from the United States and Ghana made revealing contributions.

Gabriel Blinder, CEO of Critical Sports Entertainment in America touched on the Legal part of Boxing, Knowledge of rules, Understanding scoring criteria, Understanding techniques, Awareness of Boxer safety, Impartiality and Objectivity, Management of fight flow. Communication skills, Physical fitness. Handling conflict and stress, Post fight responsibilities.

He said referees and judges are very essential in boxing.

Eric Davis of Davis Promotions tackled Understanding the Boxing Business, Legal Knowledge. Fighter Management and Relationships, Event Logistics. Marketing and Public Relations, Social Media impact, Financial Management, Audience Engagement, Risk Management, Understanding the Fighters needs, Ethical and Moral Responsibility.

Andre Rozier said boxing is one of the greatest sports but needs hard work and dedication to be involved. He touched on Fundamental Boxing Techniques, Conditioning and Fitness, Tactical and Strategic Training, Nutrition and Recovery

Sparing and Fight Simulation, Ethical Knowledge. He advised “The jab is everything, use it”

Former WBO Super Bantamweight Champion, Isaac Dogboe spoke about contracts, dos and don’ts, while Richard Commey touched on Tactics and Technical Conditioning. He noted that some boxer cannot adapt new techniques.

President of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Mr. Abraham Neequaye said Ghana Boxing is always attractive and they are working on security and safety. He urged boxers to advise their fans and supporters to stop violence and hooliganism which is denting the image of Ghana Boxing.

Joseph Agbeko, former IBF Bantamweight Champion advised boxers to take up challenges if they want to become the best.

Media Personality, Nat Attoh urged the government to invest in boxing as it is the sport that has taken Ghana to the world. He charged boxing officials to be professional.

Nana Kofi Owusu touched on Nutrition and Weight Management, while Alex Ntiamoah Boakye shared experience on promoting big bouts and agreed that boxers should be paid well to fight.

Dr. Adae Opoku Amoako concluded by giving some education on the role of a Ringside Doctor and Boxers Health.

The programme continues with a health screening and boxing tournament at the Bukom Square Park where Ghana will host Nigeria in amateur boxing.
