It was all joy on Thursday night after Ghana’s Abraham Mensah overcame Sri Lanka’s Rukmal Prasanna to book a place in the semi finals of the men’s over 51kg-54kg (Bantamweight) boxing event in Birmingham.
This vital win means, Mensah joins Joseph Commey and Abdul Wahib Omar to bring a medal back from the Commonwealth Games, a feat no other athlete has achieved in the ongoing games.
Abraham Mensah is therefore scheduled to face Owain Harris-Allan from Wales on Saturday at 3pm from the NEC Hall 4.
On the same day, Abdul Wahib will also lock horns with Louise Richarno Colin in the Light Welterweight division at 4pm.
